With widely reported skills shortages in both the engineering and construction sectors, the UTC’s aim is to train confident, highly competent individuals to fill the roles of the future and we’re delighted that the outcome of our summer results have led to some very positive student destinations data:

Key Stage 4 2017-2018 headline figures for student outcomes: 

We are please to announce that our GCSE performance this year showed great improvement, in the vast majority of areas, compare to last year.

Here are some of the key improvement areas:

  • % of students achieving a 4+ in English and Maths – 16% improvement
  • % of High Prior Attainers achieving a 5+ in English and Maths – 20% improvement
  • % of Pupil Premium students achieving a 5+ in English and Maths – 21% improvement
  • Attainment 8 Score – 1 whole grade improvement
  • Expected Progress 8 score – significant improvement

Headline Figures

  • Progress 8 Score : not yet available
  • Attainment 8 Score : 35
  • Percentage of students achieving a 5+ in English and Maths : 19%
  • Students at the UTC did not complete the English Baccalaureate due to the nature of the specialist curriculum offer.

NB: The Progress 8 measure is not designed for UTC’s as recognised by the government in their footnote of the performance tables.


Key Stage 5 2017-2018 headline figures for student outcomes: 

All 61 students studied Construction and Engineering in a combination of Diploma (equivalent to 2 A levels) or the Extended (equivalent to 3 A levels) the average grade for these was a Distinction.

Significant improvements were seen in most of our Academic A Levels, Maths and Physics; 29% of the students achieving an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade.
